LEE SAVIDENT is returning to the island.
The only professional cricketer to come from the Channel Islands is moving back home to become the head coach at the new Indoor Cricket Guernsey centre, which was opened at the weekend.
'It's the ideal job for me,' said the 32-year-old former Hampshire all-rounder (pictured).
'It's the perfect opportunity to get back into coaching. The venue is as good as anything in the UK, if not better.
'It is the ideal place if we're going to go up in the European Leagues.'
Savident played four first class matches for Hampshire before injuries eventually curtailed his county career in 2004.
The last few years has seen the former Grammar School student star for Totton & Eling in the Southern Electric Premier Cricket League Division One.
But when he moves back at the start of May, Savident will be playing for his old club, Rovers. Guernsey's best ever cricketer was at the Port Soif club as a junior before leaving to go to play for Hampshire as a teenager.
