THE Third Division Championship saw a lot of excellent performances from the junior players and it was Luke Le Tissier who claimed victory over Lions team-mate Joshua Butler in an entertaining final.

Le Tissier (pictured) was impressive throughout the tournament and showed good focus in all his encounters.

Top seed Butler made his way to the final by defeating Peter Vivian in the quarter-finals, before proceeding to comprehensively hit through wily veteran John Wills's defence in a commanding straight games semi-final victory.

Butler's confidence shone through in the early stages of the final, claiming the first two games in style.

Le Tissier came back strongly and steamrollered his way through the third game 11-2.

He followed up on that by edging a tight fourth in deuce to take the encounter into a final game.

The momentum swung back and forwards throughout the tense decider, but it was Le Tissier who was finally able to hold his nerve and clinch the title 15-13.
