THE appointment of former island boss Phil Corbet as new head coach of Vale Rec is part of an exciting transition for the club, so he claims.

Corbet said he has taken up the position because there were some exciting plans in place at the Corbet Field.

'The club has got some fantastic plans and it's exciting times for everyone involved at Vale Rec,' he said yesterday.

Corbet declined to reveal what plans Rec have, but indicated that they will be both behind the scenes and on the playing side.

'There will be three significant announcements in the next three months.'

Corbet is certainly qualified enough for the job.

He won the Priaulx title with North during 1990s and was the island boss from 1997 through to 2003.

He won both of the home Murattis he led Guernsey into, but lost all three in Jersey.

He won three and lost three of his six under-21 Murattis.
