ALICE LOVERIDGE barely had time to change outfits as she dominated proceedings at finals night of the annual island championships.
The 14-year-old featured in all seven sessions and walked away with five more titles on an evening which was also notable for Alderney's first victory in the event, Garry Dodd powering his way to another men's singles title, stacks of emerging talent and a reminder from one of the old guard that she is still a force to be reckoned with.
The latter was Dawn Powell who, despite losing the women's final in straight sets to Loveridge, reminded everyone, if they needed it, that the multiple former champion is herself one of the greats of the local game.
She attacked Loveridge with relish and in a fine conclusion to the evening's entertainment pushed the tired youngster, forcing her to draw on her full concentration and skills in the key latter points of each set.
Powell had set points in the first, but Loveridge eventually stole it 15-13.
The second was much easier for the champion but in the third and fourth sets Powell led by good margins early on only to be clawed back by this tenacious champion, who seemingly appeared in a different outfit for each of her seven finals of the evening.
