FIREFIGHTERS at Guernsey Airport resumed their duties at 3.30pm today.

The announcement followed talks with Chief Minister Lyndon Trott, although the decision of the men to resume work is not thought to be directly related to that discussion.

Passengers should contact their airline to find out about flights, but Aurigny said that it was hoping to clear as much of the backlog of passengers as possible today.

Some Blue Islands inbound flights looked set to remain cancelled for the day, but inter-island flights in and out of Guernsey were put back into the schedule.

Flybe flights remain grounded, with the airline saying that it plans to resume services tomorrow, Wednesday.

An announcement on Guernsey Airport's information line said that full safety cover resumed at 4pm, but added that there was no indication of how long this might last.

The firemen walked out at about 5pm on Monday, after talks broke down.
