Frith's youngsters have MCC in a spin
THE island's young guns have spoiled the end of the MCC's annual tour of the Channel Islands.
THE island's young guns have spoiled the end of the MCC's annual tour of the Channel Islands.
The famous Lord's-based club have been on a six-match trip of both Jersey and Guernsey.
And in their last game before flying home today, they took on a Guernsey Cricket Board XI that featured seven juniors.
Chasing a modest 202 in 50 overs at the KGV, they were dismissed just five runs short.
The result delighted the island's elite performance coach, Jeremy Frith, who captained the GCB XI.
'The kids did it, didn't they?' asked Frith.
'We were probably 20 runs short but when you get a score on the board at the KGV and you've got four spinners, you've got to back yourselves. I'm quite happy with that.'
