HEATHER WATSON has failed to win a wild card entry for senior Wimbledon.

The All England Club announced yesterday the eight wildcards for the women's singles for the most prestigious tournament in tennis, which begins on Monday 22 June.

'I don't think I'm going to be playing in that,' said the 17-year-old.

However, fellow top GB junior, Laura Robson, has been included in the main tournament.

Watson was speaking 24 hours after making her first final of a grand slam at the weekend.

With Timea Babos of Hungary, they made the final of the girls' doubles competition at the Junior French Open.

However, after winning the first set they suffered the heartbreak of losing the second and then the deciding championship tie-break, 10-8, on the famous red clay of Roland Garros.

Since then, Watson has enjoyed a couple of days off before she starts preparing for Junior Wimbledon.

She is spending the next two weeks training on grass at the LTA headquarters at Roehampton before taking part in the AEGON International Junior Tennis Championship at the centre.
