OUR significant records were broken in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke events of the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club.

Lotte Parfit (pictured), just 14 and set to make her Island Games debut in Aland, starred in the 100m backstroke, setting a new mark of 1-09.44.

In the process she smashed the record set by Chloe Brehaut in 1998.

She then went on to take Gail Strobridge's record in the 100m freestyle, recording an encouraging pre-Games time of 1-02.44.

In both events she swam head-to-head with her older sister, Victoria, who went on to take both titles in the 16 and over age group.

Jonathon Le Noury skimmed the 16 and over 100m freestyle record set by Sean Rowe Hagans back in 1997 to set a new series record of 53.61, which equalled his lifetime best. He also claimed the fastest time of the day in the 100m backstroke.

The fourth record went to 13-year-old Miles Munro, who continues to endeavour to reach the elusive sub one-minute target.

He could not have been much closer as he broke Jeremy Osborne's record in a personal best time of 1-00.11.

But he had to be content with third place in the 100m backstroke in which the honours went to Toby Belton in an excellent time of 1-16.93.
