BEECHWOOD emerged victorious on Friday in the annual Year 6 Kwik Cricket Tournament, contested between 11 school teams from nine different schools and Sark.

Each team played three to four matches on the day with three groups of teams resulting in four play-off matches and a final to determine the winners of the tournament.

Group one was made up of Castel, Hautes Capelles, Amherst and Vale first team. Group two involved Sark, Beechwood and St Andrew's while group three contained Forest, La Mare de Carteret, St Martin's and Vale second team.

Each team started on 100 and lost five runs per wicket. Runs were scored as per the usual batting rules, but wides and no-balls were only re-bowled in the last over of each innings.

After all the group matches were played, La Mare de Carteret lost to St Andrew's by four runs, who finished in ninth place, Castel lost to Vale second team by 120 runs for seventh, Vale first team beat Sark by 21 runs and Forest beat Hautes Capelles by 11 runs to finish third.

In the final, Beechwood beat St Martin's by a comfortable 71-run margin to take the trophy for the fifth time in 12 years.
