TWO of the Guernsey Swimming Club's rising stars have taken part in the ASA South East Regional Championships.

Nicole Hewlett, 13, and 12-year-old Kristina Neves both swam in the competition that was held over two weekends at the K2 Centre, Crawley recently.

Neves (pictured) came back with six gold medals from the nine races she entered.

In the 200m butterfly she came up against Emma Day of Guildford, who had got the better of her in the 100m butterfly.

It was always going to be a close race but the Sarnian came out on top with a very good time of 2min. 27.27sec., which was a new regional record.

Another top race for Neves was the 200m freestyle.

In the heats, she had a personal best time of 2-12.92, which was another regional record.

She went on to dominate the final from the start, winning by more than three seconds and smashing her own record in a time of 2-11.08.

Neves finished second in the BAGCAT points standings behind Day.
