HEATHER WATSON has been seeded 11 for the junior girls' singles at the US Open in Flushing Meadow and made a winning start this morning.

HEATHER WATSON made light work of Giullia Bruzzone yesterday to qualify for the $10,000 Frinton Futures Championship.

The 17-year-old Watson did not drop a game against her Italian opponent as she won 6-0, 6-0 at the Essex club.

It went with her first round victory in the qualifiers the day before over Britain's Francesca Lewis, which went the Sarnian's way 6-2, 6-0.

She now faces Alice Balducci in the opening round of the main draw.

The 20-year-old Italian is the tournament's number seven seed.
