SARK rider Carl Hester has been selected by British Dressage as a member of the squad to represent Team GB at the Alltech FEI European Dressage and Jumping Championships this summer.

Hester, 42 (pictured), is one of a team of four for the championships, which will be held in Windsor Castle from 25 to 30 August.

He has been the British Dressage national champion five times and has accumulated a record 44 national dressage titles.

He was part of the British team at three Olympic games - Barcelona 1992, Sydney 2000 and Athens in 2004.

He has also been part of the British team at one World Equestrian Games, four European Championships and he has reached one World Cup Dressage final.

In 2008 his horses, Dolendo and Lecantos, sustained injuries so he had to pull out of the running for Olympic selection.

Hester returned to form in fine style with a new big tour ride for 2009, Liebling II.

The pair have been part of two Nations Cup teams this summer, winning silver in Rotterdam CDIO last month.
