JOSH GOSSELIN had a confidence boosting third-place finish in the Team Swift 25 as he looks to qualify for the Commonwealth Games.
The 24-year-old local cyclist (pictured_ has his eyes firmly set on qualifying for the 25-mile time trial event at the Delhi Games in October next year.
Even though Saturday's Team Swift 25 road race in Nottingham did not provide any valuable qualification points, Gosselin was happy with his performance.
'I was pretty pleased, but to be honest I wasn't sure how it was going to go,' he said.
'I've been training pretty hard at the moment so I was a bit tired, but as soon as I got on the bike I felt quite good.
'It's definitely helped my confidence. To get on the podium is always nice.'
The 25-mile course was a simple out and back route along the A1.
Facing a headwind on the outward route, Gosselin clocked 27 minutes for the first 12.5 miles and managed to complete the second half in a little more than 26 minutes.
With a finishing time of 53min. 05sec., the Sarnian placed third and 51sec. behind eventual winner Jack Green and 16sec. off second place rider Paul Greenhalgh.
