IT WAS a great day for Guernsey sides in the NatWest Channel Islands League on Saturday, but Optimus continued their relentless march towards the title.

The outstanding Jersey outfit in the competition made short work of overcoming Springfield, bowling them out for 50 and then knocking off the runs in seven overs.

But in the two inter-island clashes, there were wins for Argylls and Wanderers, while Cobo saw off ORs in the all-Sarnian encounter at the KGV.

It was certainly a delighted Argylls captain Mark Culverwell at Port Soif as his youngsters came to the fore in their victory over St Ouen.

The home side had looked set for a decent total while Dominic Rigby and Arun Ayyavooraju were putting together a useful third-wicket partnership after Vince Kenny and Mike Reed departed early on.
