COBO are in the driving seat at the top of Barclays Wealth Evening League Division One.

Their 15-run victory over main rivals Rovers last night at Port Soif makes the equation for Matt Oliver's men very simple - win their remaining three games and they are champions once more.

The Cobo skipper, however, was thankful that a change of line-up at the 11th hour saw Jeremy Frith come into the side because the island all-rounder played a gem of an innings that made the difference in a close game.

He hit 51 not out and joined in an unbeaten fifth-wicket stand of 72 with Jonny Warr to push Cobo's total up to 131, which proved out of Rovers' reach.

'I won the toss and batted because I thought it might be easier than batting second with the light going, but with our start we lost a couple of wickets and runs did not come quickly,' Oliver said.

'It was important that someone stuck around and fortunately Frithy did that. He batted brilliantly and from thinking we were going to be defending 110-115, to come off with 131 was a huge bonus.

'We then came out and gave probably our best bowling and fielding performance of the season in the biggest game so far.'
