THE individual at the top of the Barclays Wealth Evening League most valued player table has been named as July's Player of the Month.

Chris Mauger, from St Martin's, helped his team win all four of their games and climb to the top of Evening League Two with scores of 82, 57 not out, 44 and 63.

St Martin's now have an outstanding chance of winning the title with just a few weeks left of the season.

Mauger (pictured) was presented with a Gray-Nicolls bat and a bottle of champagne for his efforts and his name goes forward for consideration in the overall awards to be announced at the GCA Awards Dinner on 9 October.

However, St Martin's missed their big chance virtually to guarantee the Division Two title when they lost a nail-biter to rivals Praxis Corinthians B at Port Soif on Monday.

Corinthians, the only team who could stop Saints, made a useful 122 for five in their 16 overs, recovering from 29 for three, with Tim Belton again in the runs with an unbeaten 64.
