Local trio on England selectors' radar

A TRIO of young local netball players have recently returned from the south region player development programme after being spotted by regional scouts.

Hannah Blondel, Amy Fallaize and Lydia McClean, all 12 years old, play for the PwC Academy.

They were noted for their potential future talent on the court when they attended the trials.

They are all too young to be signed up for this season's talent programme, which is the next step to the junior England set up, but Blondel and Fallaize will be watched closely over the winter.

Their progress will be fed back to the programme managers at regular intervals with a view to earning a place on the programme in the future.

McClean unfortunately suffered an injury that will hamper her progression for the time being.

'The girls have done extremely well to be spotted among a group of very talented young netballers in the south region player development programme,' said Gill Queripel, the head coach and development officer for the Guernsey Netball Association.

'I am delighted that they are now on the radar of the England selectors and am looking forward to tracking their progress in the PwC Academy over the coming months.'
