Two rink victories out of 12 a poor Greens return
THERE was precious little to cheer for local bowls as the two Le Quesne trophies went back to Jersey on the wavepiercer on Saturday night.

THERE was precious little to cheer for local bowls as the two Le Quesne trophies went back to Jersey on the wavepiercer on Saturday night.
Both Guernsey men and women squads won on just one out of six rinks and the local men have now not claimed the old trophy for 12 years.
The writing was on the Corbet Field wall-fixed blackboard from early on and by the end of the afternoon the margin was disappointingly wide at 41 shots.
From as early as the fifth end the home side, who were without leading player Gary Pitschou, away playing in a PBA indoor event in the UK, were struggling at 11 shots adrift.
By 10 ends the margin had widened to 12 and there was still hope of turning things around.
But at the 15-end count the gap had opened to 19 shots and over the closing ends Jersey romped away.
Only the Don Batiste-led Northern BA four of Sid Le Maitre, Keith de la Mare and Ricky Nash held firm against the Caesarean onslaught.
They beat the Tommy Greechan-skipped four, 21-17.
