A BAD day at the office left Guernsey resoundingly defeated and two of their home-grown young stars in A & E on Saturday.
While Tom Ceillam's dislocated finger was obviously painful, it should not be of long-term consequence, but it is doubtful whether the same could be said of Jason Batiste's nasty ankle injury.
The inside centre's cry of pain as he twisted awkwardly when tackled in his own 22 late on, signalled that he was in trouble and the referee immediately stopped the game.
Helped off the pitch before heading off to a vehicle on crutches, it is suspected that he may have suffered ligament damage, but it was far too early for an exact diagnosis.
Injuries such as that always put results into perspective, but it has to be said that this was one of the most ragged home performances Guernsey have produced for a very long time.
