DAVID JEFFERY has completed a remarkable La Grande Mare 'grand slam'.

The four-handicapper can surely lay claim to the unofficial title as the club's best amateur golfer as he defeated Mark Bayes by one hole in the President's Putter final.

Jeffery (pictured) admitted completed the fourth-leg of his own grand slam was far from easy.

'I knew it was going to be tough giving Mark 10 shots, but hoped that he might feel the pressure of the occasion over the first few holes,' Jeffery said.

'That certainly wasn't the case and Mark played superbly well, being 3 up with four to play, and only six-over par gross standing on 15.

'He then hit the self-destruct button coming in and I just played for pars.

'Having already won the Club Championship, the Order of Merit and the Scratch Matchplay, this was the final piece in the grand slam jigsaw - a fantastic season.'

In the plate competition, Nicky Welsh beat Robbie Law 3 and 2.
