Le Noury shows his 'back' brilliance

JONATHON LE NOURY and Lotte Parfit produced the fastest times of the day in the 200m backstroke event of the NRG series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club.

Le Noury touched in 2-09.42, just ahead of Thomas Hollingsworth in 2-10.29, while Parfit took the touch from her sister Victoria, in 2-31.47.

In the youngest age group, nine years, the swimmers were taking part in this event for the very first time.

That did not deter Thomas Teasdale, who won the boys section, and Ella Huxtable who headed the girls just ahead of Hannah Rosumek in 3-43.13.

As the juniors begin to think about their county qualifying times, the 200m backstroke is a key event in the BAGCATS system and the swimmers had targets in mind.

Alex Parfit and Victoria Symes continue to dominate the 10-year age group in the series, recording 3-06.98 and 3-12.98 respectively and appear well on target for their county times. There were some great personal bests in this age group, with second-placed Jack Ewins improving on his entered time by over 14 seconds.

Hannah Belton, who also placed second, looked promising as she improved by over five seconds, recording 3-22.26.

Thomas Nightingale and Courtney Butcher scored maximum points for the 11-year olds, Butcher improving by 3.39sec. to record 3-01.48.

Chloe Tostevin, at the bottom of the 12/13 years category, swam really well, touching in 2-59.89, a personal best by over five seconds. Miles Munro won the boys title in 2-43.48.

David Hall romped home in the 14/15 age group in 2-24.99, ahead of Oliver Nightingale in 2-27.86.

The swimmer showing the greatest improvement on her entered time was Kirsty Hart, who improved by over 30sec.in the 10-year age group. NRG Series: Tight finish to 200m backstroke between Commonwealth Games stars
