NORTH paid tribute to their dead former youth team captain before their 4-0 Division One win over Athletics at KGV on Saturday.

Both sides observed a minute's silence in recognition of the sudden death, two days earlier, of former first-team midfielder Craig Cameron, the brother of the club's current under-21s team coach.

'It was a sad thing to hear about and our feelings go out to the Cameron family,' said North president Dave Finn yesterday.

He recalled Cameron's successful times as a junior with the club.

'He was a superb lad and I remember one year, when the juniors had won everything, him standing up at the dinner and thanking everyone for what they had done.'

On the pitch, North warmed up for next Friday's crunch clash with Bels with a straightforward win, boosted by the earning of a penalty inside 20sec.

Bels and St Martin's also won to keep up their title challenges, while Rangers won for the first time against Vale Rec.
