ROVERS' third win of the season has lifted the Port Soif club to within 90 minutes of a rare cup final appearance.

Only Division One new boys Athletics stand in the way of a Stranger Cup final slot for Mac Gallienne's lads after a thoroughly merited win at the Corbet Field last night to reverse the league scoreline of three days earlier.

'It would be nice for both Rovers and Tics to get to the final,' said Gallienne after the final whistle was blown by young Danny Le Sauvage, who drew criticism from the defeated manager, Phil Corbet.

'I thought his was a very poor show and his performance matched ours.'

Corbet was upset that the referee was late arriving, which delayed the kick off several minutes and he called his performance 'unacceptable'.

But the Vale coach was critical of his team too.

'I'm very disappointed. Rovers were hungrier and battled harder. We were better in the second half without creating much.'
