THE French market helps attract customers to the Pollet, according to local businesses.

Many traders are welcoming the Normandy traders, who will be setting up their stalls on North Beach, and taking up more than 80 car parking spaces.

However, Miss Nob owner, Mary Le Poidevin, was concerned about the loss of parking.

'The market is a wonderful event and it creates a Christmassy atmosphere,' she said.

'But parking in the area can be tough. It is only for two days, so won't affect Town for very long.

'But we must protect our parking, as this helps to support our Town.'

Boulangerie Victor Hugo owner Reda Karim likes the extra competition the market brings to Town.

'This is an excellent opportunity for the local community,' he said.

'I'm not worried about them coming. It just helps me to produce better goods because of the extra competition.'
