THE man accused of unlawfully killing Gary Allen reserved his plea in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Alan Baker, 23, who appeared from custody, faced that charge with an alternative of maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Both charges relate to an incident outside the Albion Tavern on Wednesday of last week.

Mr Allen, 46, (pictured) suffered a serious head injury and died two nights later in Southampton Hospital.

Advocate Liam Roffey, prosecuting, asked for a four-week adjournment as a full post-mortem on Mr Allen was expected to take three weeks.

Mr Baker's advocate, Chris Green, made no request for bail. He asked that his client appear by video link, to which Judge Cherry McMillen agreed. Mr Baker will reappear on 29 December.

Yesterday, police released a photograph of Mr Allen that it hoped would jog the memories of potential witnesses.
