PEOPLE in the north of the island could soon be able to pop into their own local police station.

The small interpretation centre opposite the North Side chip shop could be turned into a base from where the area's community police team can work with the public.
Community officer PC Karl Addis is behind the initiative.
'It hasn't been used for about three or four years.
'It belongs to States Property Services so we asked if we could use it on a yearly basis,' he said.
The building, which is effectively just one room, would be rent-free, but the police would have to maintain it and pay for electricity.
'This is for the local community of St Sampson's and the Vale – so rather than having to go into Town they can come here,' he said.
'We are looking at doing a police surgery twice a week for two hours at a time.'
