GARY DODD won his third Capelles Open title in five years with a straight sets win over Paul Hainsworth in last night's final at the Hougue du Pommier Centre.

Hainsworth upset the odds to beat the left-hander in the pre-Christmas CI Top 12 qualifier, but on this occasion Dodd was not in the mood for making mistakes and romped home 11-7, 11-8, 11-7.

Dodd's biggest challenge had come in the semi-finals where he was pitted against five-times Capelles champion, Phil Ogier, who took the opening set 11-5 and had chances in the second.

But once Dodd (pictured) had edged that one 12-10, he eased through the next 11-4 and sneaked the fourth 12-10 to grab a place in the final, ending Ogier's hopes of a third tournament win out of four this campaign.

The shock of the evening came with the disappointing performance of number two seed Matt Stubbington.
