HUNDREDS of islanders flocked to look around the new £39m. clinical block yesterday.

The special open day at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital offered a chance to see behind the scenes of the new building before it is fully operational.

The new block includes three wards, occupational and physiotherapy departments, an oncology unit and the Institute of Health and Social Care.

Corporate services director Richard Evans said many people had taken the chance to look around.

'It has been really good, with a steady stream of people all afternoon,' he said.

'They have been very interested and asking all sorts of questions and wanting to find out what will be happening in all the different departments.'

Feedback from many visitors was positive, with islanders impressed by the new block.
