THE Sportingbet Guernsey first and second table tennis teams will be travelling to England this weekend to compete in rounds seven and eight of the South and Midlands Senior British League.
The first team, debuting this season in division one, are currently fifth on six points in what appears to be an extremely tight division with little between most of the teams.
Their first match is against second-placed OLOP Impact and they then face Brighton City, who are only one place ahead of Guernsey.
With only three points between third and eighth position, there are likely to be a number of close matches.
Team captain Phil Ogier (pictured) said that it was going to be tough.
'Brighton City have a new first-string player who has won all bar one of his matches so far, so they are likely to be stronger than last time we played them,' he said.
'OLOP Impact, currently in second place, are a good side. They have strength and depth with all capable players so we are expecting tough matches all round.'
