GUERNSEY'S Kiwi connections came to the rescue in a rousing finale to a nail-biter at Foote's Lane on Saturday.

With the match deep into stoppage time, Guernsey trailed a stubborn Weybridge Vandals outfit by two points, having been 15-0 down at half-time.

But, having gained the momentum and with a raucous crowd at their backs, the home side snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with super sub Blair Campbell edging the Greens ahead with a rare drop goal before Nick Barton rounded off another outstanding individual display with a last-gasp dive-over try in the corner.

'There were a few stern words said at half-time and basically we put that second half down to being the crux of our season,' said player-coach Jordan Reynolds.

'Either we had to win or that would be the end of our title hopes because we need to be beating decent sides like Weybridge if we want to progress.
