MATT JENNINGS celebrated his return to the ring with a pulsating victory at Friday night's Dinner Boxing Show.
It was big news in October when the island's leading boxer pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to possessing small amounts of class A and class B drugs when he was searched by the police on a night out in Town at the end of August.
The 32-year-old was fined £1,000 and was suspended by the sport's governing body, the Amateur Boxing Association of England until 1 January.
And the Sarnian certainly did not have an easy comeback as he faced Devon-based Lithuanian Valentin Bumbul in their top-of-the-bill clash at St Pierre Park Hotel as Guernsey took on Western Counties Select.
Jennings controlled the first two rounds before he had a scare in an all-action third round as the hard-hitting Bumbul, who fights out of Combe Martin ABC, realising that he was behind on points, went hell for leather.
But the Guernsey cruiser weight dug deep and won on a unanimous decision.
