GUERNSEY now stand alone in third in London Two South-West thanks to a crucial victory over fellow promotion-chasers Guildford on Saturday.

In an extraordinary match at Foote's Lane, no fewer than six players were sent to the sin bin, five of them from the home side.

However, the Greens showed their resilience as well as the occasionally piece of magic – most notably through two-try Jason Batiste – to emerge 36-21 winners.

Player-coach Jordan Reynolds did not criticise the referee at all afterwards. He was just delighted by his squad's efforts.

'This team has really grown,' he said.

'At any time when you have got up to three people off the park, no matter what you think of the decisions, you have to give that bit extra to make up for lost numbers.

'Everyone gave their all today and this is one of my proudest moments as coach of this team. Just to be out there watching the guys give it their all and being a part of it was awesome.'
