With weather decimating training plans recently, Guernsey were in need of a good hard game to see where they stood and which parts of their game needed work. That is exactly what they got.

The battle between the two sets of forwards was very physical, starting off quite equally but as the first half went on Guernsey started to dominate with George McLellan and Toby Glass working tirelessly to secure ball at the breakdown.

Newcomer Rory Johnson splintered the heart of the Jersey defence with some bulldozing runs.

Out in the backs, space was scarce with defences up quickly and tackles rarely missed.

Patience was needed to break the opposition down, but the breakthrough came with Rory Betley spinning out of one tackle then stepping past another to open the scoring.
