THE pairing of Peter Bachmann and Jeremy Rihoy held their nerve over the closing stretch to win the Royal Guernsey's Nova Financial Services Thursday Morning Four-ball League this week.

There was never more than one hole in it in their play-off with holders Bobby Eggo and Petri Lagerstrom at L'Ancresse, but the victors did not drop a hole after the 10th and that strong finish to the match saw them edge home.

The front nine was a real see-saw battle, with just three halved holes along the way.

RGGC captain Lagerstrom got off to the ideal start with a nett birdie at the first to go 1 up, but Bachmann hit back immediately with a nett three at the second to level the match.

After halving the third in pars, Bachmann and Rihoy both made the most of their shots on the fourth to card five nett fours and take the lead for the first time, but their opponents were soon level thanks to pars down the sixth.
