GRUFC chairman Carl Johnson is enthusiastic about the possibility of the club having a modern new home in an expanded Garenne Stand at Foote's Lane.
The Foote's Lane Stand Company revealed this week that it is planning an extension to improve the current facilities.
A larger, permanent clubroom for the Guernsey Rugby Club, kitchen facilities, a revised function room also for use by the GIAAC, a gym and training facilities as well as 72 additional tiered seats overlooking the finish line of the athletics track are all included in the plans.
The proposals, which are subject to final permissions, are supported by the Guernsey Sports Commission, the GRUFC, the GIAAC and the Culture and Leisure department.
Johnson (pictured) said it will be a big step forward for the club.
'It is something that's been in the background for a number of years now.'
