ALICE LOVERIDGE has been invited to represent Great Britain at the Youth Olympics in Singapore.

The 15-year-old will be Britain's sole representative at the event after it was learned that the Moldovan player who beat her in the final of the qualifying event in Cairo, was actually ineligible to represent Moldova.

As a consequence Loveridge was declared winner and will now take her place as one of 32 of the best young players worldwide playing in the singles. The Youth Olympics start with an opening ceremony on 14 August but the table tennis competition gets underway seven days later.
