IAN SCHOLES saved his best for last, winning the final event of the De Putron Winter Duathlon Series and finishing ahead of Alan Rowe for the first time.

The longest race of the season started from Pembroke with a three-mile run, followed by a 20-mile cycle to the Imperial Hotel and back, finishing with another three-mile run.
