McLaughlin celebrates win with rapid 25-mile time

DESPITE recording the fastest time of the day in completing the 25-mile time trial in a lightning quick 53min. 48sec. James McLaughlin only managed 20th place once the handicaps had been taken into account.
But consolation for the outstanding young rider came in the form of victory in the overall standings, winning by 11.5 points from his closest rival, the veteran Paul Jackson who was closely followed by Matt Osborn, Tony Bleasdale and Philip Touzeau.
Dry conditions and a helpful wind meant that the final race of the Guernsey Velo Club's Easter weekend was going to be one of the more enjoyable.
Forty riders attended the event which began at the top of L'Eree hill and ran up and down the west coast.
