VALE REC continued their impressive season with a demolition of Sylvans in the Mauger Cup final.

In one of the most one-sided cup finals seen for quite some time, the Westerners were no match for an excellent Vale side, whose cause was helped by the dismissal of Sylvans skipper Jon Bachelet.

The rout started inside the first five minutes when Dave Cusack brilliantly controlled a cross from the right-hand side, before firing into the bottom corner past Liam Le Prevost.

To say the game was over as a contest after one goal would seem strange, but Sylvans never even looked like getting back into the game and were restricted to a couple of speculative long range efforts which flew harmlessly wide.

Any hopes they did have were extinguished just after the half-hour mark, with Bachelet being given his marching orders after bringing down Mark Ogier, who was clean through on goal. From the resulting free kick, the mightily impressive Karl Bisson forced a smart save out of Le Prevost.
