A RECORD number of cyclists is taking part in this year's Ian Brown's 30/30 Challenge, which started on Saturday.

More than 40 riders are involved in the annual event, which is in its third year. They will be cycling 30 minutes every day during May to raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice.

Many of them met for a special breakfast in Town before doing their first day's cycling together.

Cycle shop co-owner Ian Brown said £4,000 had already been pledged before the first day's ride.

'Fund-raising has been going very well,' he said.

'We are expecting to raise at least £34,000 this year.'
