Although the match was ultimately decided before the final rubber, the final score of 6-4 could have been all so different had the doubles match, in only the sixth rubber, not been turned around in such a remarkable manner.
Going into the rubber with their side narrowly leading 3-2 on the night, everyone knew the enormity of Garry Dodd and Olly Langlois' performance, the difference between all square and having one hand on the trophy.
The first two sets were scrappy, with the Sarnian duo's early lead being cancelled out in the second by the Jersey pairing of Jacob Wankowicz and Craig Gascoyne.
But it was in the third where the home side made their first real move towards apparent victory.
