JOSH GOSSELIN out-sprinted breakaway companion Philip Touzeau to take the victory in the Guernsey Velo Clubs Liberation Day Road Race held around five-and-three-quarter laps of the L'Eree course.

The riders met at the top of Pleinmont Hill for the start of the race, which meant the slower ones would have a chance to get to grips with the speed of the race before tackling the main climb on the course.

As the large group approached the main climb, a fast tempo was soon set at the front of the race by Touzeau and the race was split apart.

As the lead riders crested the climb, Gosselin (pictured) quickly joined the work on the front of the group and many of the chasing riders were distanced with only Tony Bleasdale and Stuart Le Tissier able to maintain contact.
