TIM RAVENSCROFT has joined the Sussex CCC academy.

The 18-year-old Elizabeth College captain will join the county's programme for a period of 18 months, spending the rest of the summer at Hove on a part-time basis before moving on to the full academy programme from October for 12 months, which will include a trip to the pre-season training camp at Port Elizabeth in January.

Ravenscroft (pictured), who has represented Guernsey in the ICC Pepsi World Cricket League before having a recent break from cricket, admitted his delight at being chosen to play for the Sussex academy and his eagerness to get back to playing.

'It's a fresh start for me now and it's great to be back in the game. I'm really looking forward to playing for a supportive club like Sussex and spending more time here at Hove,' said the youngster, who played for Hampshire as a junior and also for the West of England.'
