COBO coast road was jam-packed with music lovers yesterday claiming a victory for people power.

The Cobo Bay Hotel balcony gig had been in danger after police initially refused to close the road without the licensee securing an alfresco licence at a cost of around £1,000.

However, a decision last week by the Environment Department to intervene enabled the road's closure after the force had refused to climb down.

An estimated 2,000 people turned out yesterday to watch local band No Paparazzi and tribute act Fleetwood Bac and show their support.

Rockmount and Cobo Bay Hotel owner Dave Nussbaumer was delighted that the event was so popular.
