Heather misses graduation to prepare for the summer classics

TENNIS star Heather Watson returns to the UK today after graduating from the Pendleton School, Florida.

The Guernsey-born athlete has had to miss her graduation ceremony to start preparing for her summer tournaments.

Her father, Ian Watson, said he was very proud of his daughter.

'She has been working and studying really hard for the last eight weeks, and hasn't been playing competitions, although she has kept up her fitness,' he said.

'She is now entering the pro-tennis world and a new chapter of her life.'
