Sam gets his second wind

TWO years after being beaten by elder brother Tom in the junior matchplay final, Sam Le Huray finally got his hands on the trophy with a fine 8 and 6 win over James Hamon at blustery L'Ancresse yesterday.

Hamon, who enjoyed a terrific run in the senior championship and earned himself top seeding for the junior event on the back of having the lowest handicap in the field, had one of those days when he was not quite at his best and his opponent, two years his senior, played some fine golf to earn himself a crack at the Jersey champion, Nick Wildman, on the same course next weekend.

Le Huray, two years older at 16, led from the moment he won the first with a par.
