The Guernsey Cricket Board is to issue redundancy notices to most of its staff at the end of this month and they will have to re-apply for newly-defined roles.

A major cost-cutting exercise is necessary after local cricket's governing body spent money they expected to receive in grants from the International Cricket Council, who are themselves clamping down on member countries' spending.

The shortfall stems from Zimbabwe's expulsion from the Champions League, the forced cancellation of the event in Pakistan due to the threat of terrorism, and the subsequent reduced slice of the ICC pie for the European region.

The GCB has been led since its inception in March 2006 by chairman Dave Piesing (pictured).
