GUERNSEY'S ambitious lawn bowlers have qualified for two finals in the British Isles men's outdoor bowls championships in Worthing, where they are hoping to win the singles and pairs titles today.

Matt Le Ber showed his class to clinch a place in the senior singles final, while Kris Bichard and Dan de la Mare made no mistake in seeing off the Scottish challenge of David Ross and Sandy MacDougall in the pairs semi-final.

Le Ber (pictured) charged past Ireland's Gerard McGleave 21-10, in the quarter finals and faced charged-up Jersey star Malcolm de Souza, who defeated England's Bowler of the Year – and world number six, Simon Skelton, by the same score.

The 18-year-old de Souza failed to keep up the sensational form he had shown against Skelton, and Le Ber took full advantage, racing into a 9-2 lead and withstanding de Souza's inevitable rally to win, 21-15.
