One sport leads to starring role in another for Lee

A LOOK at the British Universities Water Polo website shows a familiar Beau Sejour Barracuda topping the women's top scorers, with 37 goals from five games.

Casey Lee has competed in the last five Island Games for swimming but decided to take up water polo at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU Cheshire), where she is currently studying for a PhD in Biomechanics.

Lee's supervisor is Dr Carl Payton, one of the world's leading biomechanics, which means that she has been able to regularly work with swimmers on the England Talent scheme as well as Paralympic and Olympic swimmers.

The Sarnian recently presented her work 'The Effect of Tethered Swimming Speed on External Power Output of Well-Trained Disabled Swimmers' at the International Biomechanics and Medicine in Swimming Conference in Oslo, and hopes to finish her PhD next year.'
