EDUCATION has announced that it intends to return £2m. to the States in savings and unspent balances this year.
However, this is in anticipation of the department asking for further funding for nursery care provision.
Minister Carol Steere said she wanted to send a clear message to the States and to Treasury. 'This is to demonstrate that the Education board and department takes its job seriously and fully understands that we are under this economic pressure at the moment.
'We are a department that wants to see an extension of services and new service provision and we have to be responsible in our attitude.
